Also, the ‘out there’ themes of Nothing Is Strange were easier to digest in smaller forms. However, I was still able to enjoy them somehow as the scenes were easy to visualise. I’m not going to lie and write I got something from every story because some went right over my head.

The Meeting was a very sweet story which ran with the theme that being with someone can stop the pain of loneliness. It touched on the fact that humans wouldn’t cry if they understood what was going on and also that love looks beyond flaws. Dunce was smart on many different levels. My favourite stories were Dunce and The Meeting. That’s a good thing, in my opinion, as it meant that I could take whatever I wanted from the stories. I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: Mike is as wacky as ever! This is my third offering from the author and I still haven’t been able to figure out what goes on inside his head. I don’t often read books of short stories, but this one was really good, and it’s perfect for a day like today. Most of the stories incorporate some sort of magical realism (at least, that’s what I got out of it), and most of them are equally as weird- but in the best way possible. Other stories include one about a man who goes to work every day even though his office closed down years ago and one aboutĪ man named Mr. The latter story is about a very well known professor for whom things start to go very wrong for. In order to make the bridge disappear, they must figure out what the two objects have in common.

The former was about a man and his wife who continually see the same bridge composed of 72 bricks that separate two objects. My personal favorites were “Seventy-Two Bricks” and “Brain”. There are eight total, and all extremely different from each other. Happy April Fool’s Day! What better way to celebrate than reading a wonderfully weird and sometimes silly book? I’m not exactly sure how to describe this particular book, because it’s a book of short stories.
